Take a Date to Play Putt-Putt Golf

Putt-Putt Fun Center logoImage via WikipediaPutt-Putt golf is a great idea for dates. There is a carnival atmosphere that surrounds the putt-putt golf course. There are unique obstacles to hit the ball through such as the windmill, waterfall, clowns mouth and many more. The whole course is usually built around a theme or two. The pirate’s ship, seven wonders of the world, ect…

There are only two standard rules that I know of in putt-putt golf. You must use a putter when striking the ball and you must put the ball in the cup. You can make up your own set of rules if you’d like.

Many times you’re required to bank a shot to go around corners, it reminds me of playing bumper pool. There is the up and over shot where you’ll hit the ball over a mote of some sort, through the castle gate and into the cup. Usually the castle gate is moving up and down so some timing is also required.

If you’re looking for an inexpensive date or a place to take the family, try putt-putt golf. I think you and the company you keep will have a good time.

Another Fun Way to Play Golf

During the Winter months, playing golf out doors is limited. Assuming you live in the Northern Hemisphere. One option is to play golf from the comfort of home. Introducing Wii Golf. I bought my daughter The Wii games set up for Christmas. Included was the Wii golf game. I enjoyed playing the game. It is somewhat realistic.

Wii golf is what I would call a virtual reality game. You hold a remote control in your hand and swing it like you would a golf club. Just using your arms, no leg or foot work required. You'll slice or hook the ball if your swing is not correct, just as your golf swing in the real world. You can play the game on your TV, or connect to the internet and play with people all over the world.

Playing Wii Golf is a lot like playing real golf in the fact that the most important golf club is the putter. Learning how to use the putter and the other golf clubs is the first step in mastering Wii golf. After that it is a matter of navigating the course and learning the ins and outs of the game of golf. One of the best things about Wii golf, no buying golf balls. Wii Downloads

Frisbee Golf

Frisbee golf has been around for a while. The first time I played was in 1975. Another name for frisbee golf is disk golf. This way of playing golf is becomming more popular.
It doesn't require alot of money to get started. All you need is a frisbee, or a disk. You can probably find a frisbee golf course in your area.

This type of golf is easy to learn, quite simple really. All you do is throw a frisbee toward the green. Hit the pin, which has a circular bar on top with chains that hang down to what looks like a basket. Tee-off as you do in links golf. Count the amount of tosses it takes to hit the pin basket. Least amount of tosses wins.

This sounds easier than what it actually is however. Usually there are obstacles that you must throw your frisbee around. Such as trees or buildings. It takes a little practice to make your frisbee do what you want it to. Having the ability to toss a frisbee accurately and with good distance is necessary to succeed at this way of playing golf.

An interesting thing about disc golf, which I recently learned. There are different discs to use depending on where you're at on the course. There is a disc to throw for distance and one for short throws. Just like you'd use different clubs on a links golf course. There is a disc made for many particular situations.

Ways to Play Golf

There are several ways to play golf. The best way I know of, is to have fun while playing golf. Two ways to do that are, be real good at the game or don't take it seriously. Playing golf with friends is always a good time.

One way to play golf is on a links golf course. These courses usually consist of eighteen holes, front nine and back nine. You can play in different formats. There's what I call straight golf. In which each player plays his or her own ball, counting each stroke. Fewest amount of strokes wins, in all formats.

Another format is called match play. Each player plays their own ball, as in straight golf. The only difference is in the way score is kept. Each hole is scored separatly. The score is tallied by holes won and not total number of strokes.

The best ball scramble format is one of the best ways to play golf. This format is played with teams. Anywhere from two to four players on a team. Scoring is the same as straight golf. Each team plays their best ball. The team plays their shots from where a team member hit the best shot. Scores tend to be low in this format because, usually you don't have to play a bad shot.

Another form of the scramble format is the alternate shot scramble. This is played with teams also. Each team has two players. The difference here is that the shots of each team are alternated. One player tees off, then his or her team mate takes the next shot from where ever the ball landed. This format is a little more challenging than the best ball format, because you only get one chance to make a good shot. Where as with the best ball format, the chances of a good shot are equal to the number of team mates. Each team member is able to hit the same shot. I hope I didn't confuse you.

Fun ways to play golf are to mix up the formates. For instance, play the best ball format with skins and a wager. Skin is another term for winning the hole. The same as playing best ball but the scoring is like that of match play. Each skin can be worth an amount that is acceptable to everyone involved.
